Built Around Real Systems

I am a Computer Science student at Stellenbosch University (first year completed) with extensive hands-on experience managing IT infrastructure for multiple companies. Since 2022, I've been running client sites as an MSP, handling everything from website maintenance and hosting to cybersecurity, user management, and RMM deployments.

I manage complete IT infrastructure stacks: websites, hosting, cybersecurity, user administration, and monitoring systems.

My focus is practical security operations: firewalls, zero trust implementations, endpoint protection, and infrastructure hardening.

I have real-world experience with enterprise-grade systems while also repurposing consumer hardware for efficient solutions.

Skills & Expertise

Built over years of managing real client infrastructure — not certifications, not course labs. These are the tools and platforms I've deployed, broken, fixed, and optimised in production environments.

Currently Learning

Not just watching tutorials — actually building things, breaking them, and figuring out why.

🎯

Penetration Testing

Working through TryHackMe, HackTheBox, and building my own lab targets. Focus on methodology, not just tooling.

Tech Stack

The tools I actually have open. Categorised by what I'm using them for day-to-day — not a list of things I've touched once.

💻 Day-to-Day

The tools open on my screen every single day.

VS CodePrimary editor — SSH remoting, extensions for everything
iTerm2Terminal of choice on macOS — split panes, profiles per environment
Chrome DevToolsNetwork inspection, console debugging, performance profiling
PostmanAPI testing and request collections across client environments
GitVersion control for configs, scripts, and codebases
BitwardenSelf-hosted password & secrets management

🔒 Security

Tools I use for network analysis, auditing, and testing.

WiresharkPacket capture and deep network protocol analysis
NmapNetwork discovery, port scanning, service fingerprinting
Burp SuiteWeb app security testing and HTTP interception
MetasploitLearning penetration testing fundamentals
pfSenseFirewall management — rules, VPN, traffic shaping
CrowdStrike FalconEndpoint telemetry and threat hunting on client systems

📊 Monitoring

My stack for keeping client infrastructure visible and reliable.

CheckMKPrimary monitoring platform — hosts, services, alerting
NetdataReal-time metrics on bare-metal and VMs
Pulseway RMMRemote monitoring and management for MSP clients
Azure MonitorCloud resource health and log analytics
Uptime KumaSelf-hosted uptime checks for client web services
BeszelLightweight container and server monitoring dashboard

🛠️ Development

Languages, frameworks and infra tooling I build with.

PythonScripting, automation, tooling, and security utilities
Node.js / Next.jsWeb apps, APIs, and this site itself
DockerContainerising services across lab and production
Tailwind CSSUtility-first styling for all web projects
Bash / ZshSystem scripting and automation on Linux/macOS
AnsibleConfiguration management and automated provisioning

Seeking Internship Opportunities

Computer Science student actively seeking internships in cybersecurity, infrastructure engineering, or any interesting tech role. With hands-on MSP experience managing production systems, I'm looking for opportunities to learn from experienced teams while contributing practical skills. Available for internships and part-time positions.

Strong preference for cybersecurity internships, but open to any challenging tech opportunity.

Real-world experience managing production infrastructure, security systems, and client operations.

Passionate about defensive security, infrastructure automation, and reliable systems engineering.

Available for summer internships, semester co-ops, or part-time student positions.
